Drawstring Backpacks

Okay! I am going to make it my goal to get on here once a week, in between taking care of my twin toddlers, keeping the house in order, and of course filling orders! As I mentioned in my previous post, I am in desperate need of catching everyone up with what I've been doing since the twins arrived and I WILL! I am starting with some drawstring backpacks! There are two "styles"- flat bottom, and more like a "sack." I sell these beautiful little backpacks for $28 (this includes a name or initials up to 6 letters, anything above that is an extra $2). Slowly but surely.....

I can't believe it's been almost two years since my last post! After the twins arrived we had a whirlwind of events...and as you can imagine, just having twins has kept me very busy. But, I have still been creating, sewing, crafting, etc. along the way. I'm going to be adding pictures of some of the projects I've done over the last couple of years that I haven't shared yet. Hope you enjoy! I am still taking orders and doing a show here and there. Actually, I'll be setting up at the Mothers of Multiples Convention in a couple of weeks! I'm very excited and have been working hard to get ready for it :) Look for new posts with pics of my work!

The Twins Have Arrived!

Our babies are here! I can't believe it! But, this means I will probably be off the scene for a while. See you later :)

Blankets

These are two special blankets I have made. The quilt is a small baby quilt made for my mother for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. She grew up with the Dick and Jane books and absolutely loves them. So, when I found this fabric I knew I had to make her a special quilt!

The T-Shirt quilt was made for my husband for his birthday! He had so many old, worn out t-shirts that he just couldn't part with. So, I took all of them and created this heirloom for him! Now he has a special blanket to cozy up in and remember all of the good times he had wearing the different shirts!

Purses

So it's been quite a while since my last post. My life got turned upside down and now is finally leveling out :) These purses and clutches are some of my previous work. Enjoy!

These are some of my most recent projects! I have started experimenting with painting on canvas and have really had a lot of fun with it. I hope to continue with my painting and would love to have one of them hanging in your home!

Diaper Bags

This is a selection of diaper bags that I have made in the last two years. They were all custom made by me. My favorite is the digital camo one that has gotten a lot of raves! I make these bags to suit you. So, if you have something in mind, whether it be a sport, certain character, or just a favorite color, I will work with you to choose the perfect diaper bag for you and your little one! The diaper bags come with a changing pad (and plenty of interior and exterior pockets) and range in price from $45 to $125 (depending on choice of fabric/size). I am also hoping to have monogramming options in the near future. Women's Dresses

These are some of my favorite dresses that I have created. The purple dress to the left was made from 100% silk charmeuse. I started out with about 8 yards of silk. After deciding what I wanted to make of it I chose a color. I had to mix the dyes until I found the perfect match. Then, I dyed the silk and hand painted (with dye) the black stencil like flower designs. The pattern was made from scratch and draped on a dress form. In the photo the dress is worn with a petticoat to give the skirt a little fullness.

The pink floral dress below was draped on a dress form from fabric that I got when apprenticing at the Kentucky Repertory Theatre. And the blue floral one on the right is inspired by a dress that I own and love! I found the fabric while out perusing one day and LOVED it. It took a couple of months to decide what I wanted to do with it, but I think the wait was worthwhile!

Coca~Cola Commerical

This bathing suit was custom made for a Coca~Cola Spec Commercial done in Los Angeles, California, December of 2007. The creator/director of the commercial was Mike Murphy, who is an animator on many major films including two of the Lord of the Rings movies, Stuart Little, I, Robot, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, Bedtime Stories, and many more! He gave me a story board rendering with his idea of what he wanted for the Coke Girl. I took his idea and ran with it, choosing a sunshine yellow fabric for the suit. Mike wanted a very classic look, so I created a vintage 40's/50's inspired suit with sweatheart neckline, "dress" look (it is a full suit underneath), and gathering at the bust. The photos above are from the day of filming in front of the green screen. The Coke Girl is in a painting and comes to life in the course of the commercial, hence the green screen.

Women's Costumes

These custom made women's costumes were made over the last few years. I draped all of the pieces, using no patterns.

Children's Costumes

These two custom made costumes were made for two little girls several years ago. They were (if you couldn't tell) Dorothy and Little Red Riding Hood.

These custom ordered costumes were made for a little girl's pageant. The one to the left was for Western Wear and the one on the right was for Disney Wear (she was one of those new fairies, Iredessa).

1850's Day Dress

This 1850's Day Dress was my biggest independent project yet. The ensemble includes a corset, chemise, bloomers, two petticoats and the outer bodice and skirt (made from silk taffeta). All pieces of the outergarment were draped and the undergarments were made from time period accurate patterns, adjusted for fit (the piece was made to fit a classmate of mine). I hand smocked the front panel on the bodice and the skirt was also hand pleated. This was my senior project while attending the University of Kentucky. I began my project with research in November of 2005 and completed the project at the end of February 2006 (working on the project while attending school full time). After finishing my project I headed south to Orlando, FL for the Southeastern Theatre Conference where I competed in the Crafts and Technology Competition, winning 1st place in March of 2006.
